Secondary

Our dedicated Teachers have an excellent understanding of current curriculum requirements, and can assist students in true individual, 1 on 1, tuition.

Classes are tailor made for each student and directly impact upon classroom performance. Individual students may also bring their homework and any assignments with which they require assistance.

These one hour classes enable the student to gain confidence and understanding in their selected subject so that they may progress, when and if ready, to a small group.

Benefits of group tutoringMM2_3842e

Small group tutoring can benefit many students as they have the opportunity to learn from interactions with the tutor, as well as learn from each other. Working in groups allows students to learn problem solving skills and ask each other questions, and also develops the skills to teach other students.

Students learn to work together by sharing a variety of views in order to solve problems as a group, and there is also the opportunity for more questions and answers to be presented within a tutorial. When explaining a solution to another student, it reinforces the information on the subject as it requires an understanding of the concept behind the learning. Students also often benefit from listening to the other students questions as they may not have thought of that particular question themselves.

Hence, besides being a more affordable option, group tutoring can assist in fostering problem solving skills, teamwork, and cooperation as well as promoting an active learning environment.

Year 9 Recap NAPLAN

In 2016 the Education Department has stated that for a student to be eligible to attain their Higher School Certificate, they must pass the Year 9 NAPLAN at a band 8 level. So to help students to gain this level we have put together a series of small group classes to cover each of the NAPLAN sections.

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Language Conventions
  • Comprehension
  • Maths

There will be one class each day, so that students may choose one or more areas to cover. These classes will begin in week 2 of term and will continue until the NAPLAN in May. The classes will then start again for the following year and also for those who have not attained the required level. There will be a separate holiday series in April.
