Discovering Awesomeness

The 8 habits of Awesome Children
The Education Centre and personal development educator, Seetha Herath, have teamed up to provide an exciting new course for high school students.
Titled ‘Discovering Awesomeness’, the course aims to support students in order that they can enjoy school more and achieve their goals – both personal and academic.
Seetha is a qualified meditator in ‘Vipassana’, a non-sectarian technique as taught by Buddha, which helps people examine the habits that are holding them back in life and assists them in developing new ways to reach personal fulfilment.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
At a pilot session last weekend, Jaidyn, a 17 year-old student said, ‘I was able to see more of a future ahead of me and knew more of what kind of person I want to be. Now I know what I need to do.’
Born in Sri Lanka and with a degree in Chemistry, Seetha came to Coffs Harbour last October, attracted by the beautiful scenery and more relaxed lifestyle. She also discovered a passion for working with children and young adults to communicate her ideas of nurturing and love.
‘I want to recruit a small group of 12-18 year-olds to come on the course,’ Seetha says. “Whatever journey they are taking, the course will expand their personal development and be a passage of personal discovery.”
‘I am really excited by this venture,’ says Liz Stevens of the Education Centre. ‘Our aim is to offer students a first-class all-round education – not just in the sciences, but in their personal lives too.’
Student feedback: Jaidyn “Thankyou so much for letting me be a part of the pilot program, it changed a lot of how I thought about my actions on a day to day basis.
What really hit me hard was:
* Being able to see more of a future ahead of me, and know what I have to do to achieve that future.
* I knew more of what kind of person I want to be, and be shown to other people as.
* Seeing that now I know what I need to do, it’s not about when am I going to start doing, it’s about starting to do it right now.”
